The newly renovated American Hotel brings back the old world charm and ambiance of Freehold’s long standing social centerpiece. Originally built in 1827 as a stagecoach stop, the hotel grew and expanded as did the needs and population of Monmouth County. But, after 180 years of making memories, the facilities were certainly in need of a total make-over. And so, new owner Steve Goldberg, stepped up to the plate by completing a top to bottom renovation, creating a “boutique” style which was described in the Asbury Park Press as a “masterpiece” and brought a new life and vibrancy to downtown Freehold’s restaurant row. 

 

The Market Yard Grille – an American Bistro Style Restaurant and Bar, located in the Hotel – is open 7 days for Lunch and Dinner, and late night Tapas menu till 11pm. Facing Main Street, the old world charm of the restaurant is reminiscent of a New York style steak house. Guests can enjoy a cocktail in the restaurants bar or sitting with friends in front of the fireplace in the Lobby Lounge.

 

The American Bistro style menu offers favorites including Lobster-Shrimp Bisque, A Grilled Caesar Salad, Mussels and Andouille Sausage, Steaks, Chops and Seafood. All with a delicious selection of sides. Our signature steak is the Tomahawk Rib Eye with Yukon Mashed potatos, Jersey fresh vegetables and a Cabernet-Thyme demi.

 

A delicious assortment of Chef Brian Kiddle’s appetizers and tapas specials are always available. Favorites here are the Gourmet grilled cheese sampler, barbecue style ribs, Beef & Salmon carpaccio and Marketyard seafood sampler. 

 

There are so many ways to enjoy the new American Hotel. The restaurant, bars and lounge all add to the excitement of the Hotel. Other features include full Banquet facilities for up to 220 people, 20 fully remodeled and charming hotel rooms and suites with all the modern amenities, and a Day Spa opening this Spring.
